Production Notes for ‘Know Your Meme: Single Serving Sites’

This script was originally written by Andrew two months ago intended for Joanne to deliver. It ended up being rewritten twice by both Chris Menning and I before most of it would be reverted back to its February ‘09 form. (Although many of our new jokes would stay in.)

Although much of our research in this episode is based on the work of Jason Kottke and Ryan Greenberg, Andrew and Chris did some amazing sleuthing, looking up DNS records, analyzing source code, and interviewing people like Kottke and Eric Allam (the creator of IsIt2009yet.com.) A truncated version of the Eric Allam interview can be found on Eric’s site. I’m hoping to see much of Andrew and Chris’ research transferred into the Single Serving Sites entry over on Know Your Meme.

The opening skit (my favorite part) was written by Andrew and reinterpreted on set by Jamie and Ellie. In some ways, the skit gets the point across better than the actual episode does.

Oh, and Mat Honan (creator of BarackObamaIsYourNewBicycle)? So sorry that we spelled your name wrong. I’m going to try to get that fixed.
