Pictured abobe: Zheng Xuewu and artist in residence Feng Jincao
Over 7,000 artists work out of the village, about two hours outside of Beijing and far from the more established 798 Arts District (think the studios of Bushwick vs the galleries of Chelsea.) Zheng Xuewu and Guo Xinxin run their own residency program out of there, using Xuewu’s international prominence to fund studio spaces for unknown Chinese artists.
