Hill plays the Congdon role perfectly, but still comes across as a YouTube kid – “the goofy princess of cyberspace”, as 60 Minutes put it – rather than someone with long-term aspirations to be on ABC or NBC. If she can carry over her YouTube audience, she should be a huge success.
But what this means for Rocketboom is anyone’s guess. The problem is that Rocketboom’s net-savvy audience, which gets all the jokes, should already know about most of the things it covers. And while the show could inform a more general audience, they may not be the sort of people who will get the jokes.
