The Festival of the New Black Imagination is a new platform designed to celebrate the exciting ideas springing forth from 21st century urban cultural producers.
And it’s no accident that it’s happening in Brooklyn, arguably the epicenter of a global movement—one that impacts other cities across the country as well as Europe and Africa–that drives everything that’s exciting in black culture—convention-defying art that includes music, theater, literature, film, as well as game-changing social innovation.
The Festival will explore these new possibilities–what they mean, and where things are headed–through lectures, discussion and performances.
I’m back in the U.S. today and speaking at the Festival of the New Black Imagination tomorrow. Come through if you’re in town.
