‘Smartphone’ = ‘Horseless Carriage’
Stating the obvious, I know. I sat next to two gentlemen on the 6 train this morning who kept referring to their Blackberrys as ‘PDAs’. This made me think about all of the other disruptive technologies that snuck their way in by being presented in context of an earlier technology. When I got to the office, I did a search for ‘Smartphone’ + “Horseless Carriage” and I was surprised to find less than 800 results, most of which don’t make this exact connection.
