Woman with her child, collecting cans off of the street for money.
I remember when my family used to do this when I was little, although we didn’t have a shopping cart. We had plastic shopping bags we’d keep in the trunk of the car, and whenever we’d come across a can on the side of the road or a bin full of trash, we’d fish out the aluminum and sell it to the scrapyard for 25¢ a pound. It was one of the many ways my parents worked to get us out of poverty when I was young.
I’m not sure how they’ll feel seeing this post but I’m super proud of them for that. (Taken with Instagram)
